Jaipur. Press Council of India’s enquiry committee on “Violation of Journalistic Standards ” under the chairmanship of Justice C.K.Prasad concluded its two days meeting at Hotel Khasa Kothi here.
Justice C.K. Prasad Said that the Inquiry Committee has Considered 54 cases of which 31 cases of paid news during Legislative Assembly Elections-2018 in Rajasthan and five cases of paid news during Lok Sabha Elections-2019 in Haryana in including a Suo-Motu case in Andhra Pradesh and other cases of violation of freedom of press and journalistic ethics pertaining to Western Region of India.
He informed that Inquiry Committee while adjourning 29 cases of which most of the paid news cases recommended for calling additional information from Election Commission of India vis a vis appeals preferred by the candidates relating to the paid news cases to enable the Council to conclude its findings.
Justice C.K. Prasad told that the Inquiry Committee has recommended Censure in nine cases, of which eight newspapers are Censured for publishing paid news while remaining one is Censured for publishing misleading advertisements.
It has recommended dismissal/ disposal in 25 remaining cases.
