Uber Ola Strike today !!
Uber and Ola drivers to go on Strike from today in Delhi.
The strike called by SDA (Sarvodaya Driver Association) of Delhi, which claims to have 2,000 drivers in its group. The pumping of hearts would go down today as the taxi drivers are on strike demanding accident insurance and they demand better perks and relaxed hours for targets, according to a report by Business Standard. The strike was estimated to be joined by 40k to 50k drivers.
The strike called by the driver association in Delhi and NCR today also demand accident insurance for the recent road accident that saw the death of a Uber driver partner. Hyderabad and Bangaluru also evident similar strike by other driver associations. The report claims that the driver association is not ready to comply with the company’s decision to run cabs at Rs. 6 per kilometers. The association also demanded for the full weekly payment as the full weekly payment are not paid by the Uber and Ola.
The drivers are called for a march from Ramlila Ground in New Delhi to Jantar Mantar. Posters and flyers distributed among the driver association inviting them to the gathering place.
The drivers have called for the strike because of the reason that the fare has been hiked up but not their payment. Uber has recently hiked up the fare charges last month for its UberGO service by upto 15 percent in Delhi-NCR. Along with the company has increased the ride time charges too. Rs.1 / min to Rs. 1.5/ min . The present charges for Uber is Rs. 6 per km for up to 20 kms and thereafter Rs. 12 with a minimum fare of Rs. 60 for UberGO.
The strike was a step taken up by the drivers for ensuring their safety on road.
